If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org** Miss Pearl found her way as a stray through barbed wire fences and cow pastures to the back door of a woman who took her in, treated her for an agonizing skin condition, and boosted her self-esteem after her previous owners shaved her down like a problematic sheep. After multiple weeks and countless postings, listings, and posters, it became clear that nobody was coming forward for Pearl and thus began her new life on the road to a loving forever family. Since being in foster care, Pearl's personality has truly begun to luster. Born around October 2023, Pearl is an old soul in a young puppy body, but still goofy and playful while being calm, sensitive, and respectful. And she absolutely loves a daylong nap after watching her stories. Pearl has been in the company of dogs (all female, from Labrador to Pomeranian) since her first night off the streets, and she would thrive in a home with another playful, happy dog. She absolutely loves meeting and greeting people of all ages on her daily walks, and has never shown any aggression or reactivity towards anyone or anything, even regarding her food and toys. Pearl's favorite walks so far have been on wooded trails where she gets to sniff and read all the pee-mail, but she also does fantastic with a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, greeting her fans. She would likely do great with mellow kids who are tall enough to not be knocked over when she goes in for a hug. She hasn't been tested with cats, but has shown zero interest in the small animals she has encountered out and about. She is, however, protective over her yard, and like a true LGD will voice her disdain for any perceived threats. Pearl is still learning her name and, being young, is still very easily distracted, so leashed-only walks or fully fenced play areas will keep her safe and happy. When she's not patrolling her fenced yard and guarding her invisible flock, Pearl loves taking up real estate on the couch and snoring to the point where the TV needs more volume. She's an absolute weighted blanket of love and devotion, almost to her detriment as she is working through separation anxiety (but who can blame her). When left alone she will absolutely cry and stress, so a family who either works from home or has a more flexible schedule would be best in helping Pearl transition to becoming more comfortable alone for longer periods of time. She's not destructive, but your garbage cans and countertops may be investigated like a crime scene when left alone for too long. However, Pearl is highly food motivated, smart, and eager to please, and has mastered "sit" as well as the standard Pyrenees Paw when she wants to cuddle (which is 24/7). Pearl is a true 'once in a lifetime' dog, and the person lucky enough to be her forever family can expect long lingering snuggles, your personal space reduced to a concept, and a major boost in neighborhood popularity.
